Campaign for Human Rights and Development International (CHRDI) Presents A Snapshot Of Key Activities Implemented In 2025

As 2025 comes to an end, Campaign for Human Rights and Development International (CHRDI) presents a snapshot of key activities implemented in 2025. Through strategic partnerships and evidence-based interventions, CHRDI continues to promote human rights, accountability, and democratic governance.

1.  Organised six public education and stakeholder engagement sessions on the Draft Data Protection Bill, engaging university students, MDAs, the private sector, and four communities in Freetown, with support from Access Now (USA).
2.  Secured support from International IDEA to conduct a baseline study on electoral violence during the 2023 elections.
3.  Trained 137 police officers on human rights and conditions of detention, with support from CHRDI.
4.  Monitored 11 police stations in Freetown, interfacing with 6,397 persons in police custody.  
Total Male: 5,861(91.6%), Total Female: 536(8.38%), and Release on bail: 427 during our visit. 

5.โ  โ Monitored 76 cases across the three main court buildings in Freetown.
6. Submitted three Freedom of Information requests and filed two complaints against the Judiciary for violations of the RTI/RAIC laws.
7. Organised climate change and climate governance training for civil society actors, journalists, and public officials, with funding from CHRDI.
8. Signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Youth Affairs.
9. CHRDI actively participated in and represented its interests at numerous national and international stakeholder meetings, workshops, and conferences, contributing to policy dialogue and advocacy on human rights, governance, and accountability.

In 2026, with the support of our partners and the CHRDI team, we will remain resolute in exposing and confronting human rights abuses, challenging oppression and injustice, and advancing democracy, freedom, and accountability in Sierra Leone.
