On December 16, 2025, President Donald J. Trump issued Proclamation 10998 on Restricting and Limiting the Entry of Foreign Nationals to Protect the Security of the United States. Accordingly, as of January 1, 2026, at 12:01 a.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST), the United States is fully suspending visa issuance for nationals of Sierra Leone, with limited exceptions.
