SHOOTING INCIDENT AT ARMED FORCES TRAINING CENTRE
I. The Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces is saddened about the shooting incident, which occured at about 11 am today at the Armed Forces Training Centre (AFTC) in Benguema.
II. The report indicates that Corporal Kamara alias “No.9” shot and killed his superior in rank, Major Abdul Larkoh.
III. Immediately, the said Corporal Kamara also attempted to kill himself in order to avoid arrest, investigation and prosecution.
IV. While in a helpless state, the said Corporal Kamara was arrested and rushed with at the 34 Military Hospital for treatment. Unfortunately, he was pronounced dead on arrival.
V. Meanwhile, the RSLAF leadership has ordered an immediate investigation into the circumstances leading to both incidents.
