Mrs Sellu Consoles Families of Fallen and Injured Officer After Tragic Road Accident

The President of the Police Wives Association, Mrs Matilda Doris Sellu, has paid a condolence visit to the family of the late Police Constable 15436 Ifornor B.T. and to Police Constable 11085 Pessima S., who survived a recent fatal road accident.

On Friday, 13 February 2026, Mrs Sellu — who is also the wife of the Inspector General of Police — visited the bereaved and affected families to express sympathy and solidarity following the tragic road traffic accident that occurred on 6 February 2026. The crash claimed the life of Constable Ifornor B.T. and left Constable Pessima S. injured.

During the visit, Mrs Sellu conveyed heartfelt condolences on behalf of the Police Wives Association and the Inspector General of Police, assuring both families of continued support during this difficult period. She described the loss as deeply painful and offered prayers and words of encouragement to the bereaved relatives.

Constable Pessima S., who survived the accident, is also facing a personal tragedy, having lost his wife after she reportedly collapsed upon receiving the incorrect news that her husband had died in the crash.

Mrs Sellu offered further words of comfort to the grieving families and encouraged them to remain strong, noting that the police stands with them in their time of sorrow.

Family representatives expressed profound appreciation for the visit, describing it as timely and reassuring. They commended Mrs Sellu’s compassionate leadership and praised the continued welfare support demonstrated by her and the leadership of the Sierra Leone Police, noting that the gesture has helped to ease their emotional burden.
