Harvest Intercontinental Ministries Church, Dwazark, Freetown, Tuesday, 10 February 2026 – His Excellency President Dr Julius Maada Bio has called on Christian leaders and believers to renew their commitment to discipleship, leadership, and service, as he officially opened the International General Conference of Harvest Intercontinental Ministries Unlimited (HIM-U) in Freetown.
Speaking on the theme “Igniting Passion for the Great Commission, Every Soul Reached, Every Saint Equipped,” President Bio described the conference as a timely moment of spiritual renewal and recommitment, not only for HIM-U but for the wider Christian community and the societies it serves.
The President welcomed national and international delegates and commended the leadership of HIM-U, particularly its Founder and Presiding Bishop, Bishop Darlingston G. Johnson, and Pastor Chrys Johnson, for their dedication to the Gospel. He also acknowledged the National Overseer and Host, Bishop Julius Laggah, and Reverend Olayinka Laggah, praising their spiritual leadership and consistent prayers for the nation.
President Bio highlighted the vital role of faith institutions in promoting peace, social cohesion, and national development, noting that churches remain pillars of hope, moral guidance, and community support. Reflecting on the Great Commission, he emphasised that evangelism must go hand in hand with teaching, discipleship, and leadership development.

He underscored the important contribution of women and young people in ministry and nation-building, and reaffirmed Sierra Leone’s proud tradition of religious tolerance and peaceful coexistence.
In a personal reflection, the President shared how his Christian faith continues to guide his values and leadership, even as he serves all Sierra Leoneans without distinction. He encouraged faith-based organisations to partner with government and other stakeholders in youth mentorship and community development.
Concluding, President Bio called for continued prayers for the nation and expressed hope that the conference would ignite renewed passion for the Great Commission, to the glory of God and the advancement of Sierra Leone.
